Our model reveals that koala populations – whether they are captive or wild – are positively impacted with proper planning and community involvement. By applying our Koala Retreat (KR) Environmental Wheel blueprint to various projects, we have found that every facet of a community can benefit - rather than suffer - from urban development.
The KR Environmental Wheel has already been developed and delivered by Koala Retreat at the Western Sydney International Dragway located at Eastern Creek in Western Sydney.
The KR Environmental Wheel tree planting project aims to support more than just koalas and native wildlife. It equips property owners and community members with the tools and resources to be able to thrive within a more holistic community.
The KR Environmental Wheel has been shown to:
- Increase the value of property;
- Increase privacy with trees;
- Reduce wind and noise levels;
- Reduce soil salinity;
- Increase aesthetic property and land values;
Increase business and local government productivity through carbon offsetting projects that also support koalas in captivity and wild koala populations.
