planting the future

National Tree Day 2009

It's National Tree Day 2009 and what a beautiful day it was with the sun shining. Sadly we were supported by one family with three generations but all had a great day just the same. Together we planted 120 trees for the day, and we hope these trees grow well to do there part for the local environment and for our koalas.

Thanks to Marilyn and Frank who joined us today. We all had a laugh. Early in the year Marilyn made use of the trees by providing some food to an injured koala found in ill health, and was sent to Western Sydney University, where there is a small wildlife hospital. Marilyn is one of the hospital’s volunteers. This is part of the Koala Retreat vision to support and supply food for the sick and injured.

Thanks to Angela and her son Cameron (right) who more than made up for the lack of numbers.  Cameron loved every second and enjoyed it from drilling the holes to watering the trees. A special big thank you to Cameron!

Above is Cameron’s grandmother who was far from slowing down. Blacktown Lions club again provided us with lunch. Our thanks go to Frank the president, Mike and Ella Miles and the rest for coming along.
